1935 Young Adult Ministry: Upcoming Gatherings and Events

In August, we held a 1935 Young Adult Ministry lunch that was not only to connect and share a meal together, but also to look ahead and consider what we want to do in the fall. While we have held many different types of gatherings for young adults over the past few years, the hope has always been to find a rhythm that provides meaningful ways for young adults from The Grove to connect and share life together. And an additional goal I have had is to get to a point where this ministry is guided and led from within; with young adults in similar phases of life leading their peers.
After this lunch meeting, I feel we are closer to these goals than ever. We decided to continue the successful “beta” run of the 1935 Nights that we tried in May. Starting this coming Friday, September 5th, 1935 Nights will resume every other Friday evening from 6:30pm to 8:30pm. Audrey and Caleb Cranford will continue to host these gatherings at their home, though the group may make alternate plans from week to week that will be communicated on the website and via e-mail/text. These 1935 Nights will be a consistent invitation to fellowship, build relationships together, share life, pray for one another, and even have fun together! All who are out of high school to around their mid-30’s are welcome (roughly 19-35-ish), as usual! To let us know you are interested in attending and get on our communication list, please fill out the interest form on the 1935 page of our website.
Additionally, we have two events planned to bring us to the end of the year.
The first event is called “1935: Boards and Boards” on Sunday, November 2nd from 5-8pm. Everyone (or every couple) attending is invited to bring a custom themed “charcuterie” board of any sort to share as we gather to play board and card games together (hence the name “Boards and Boards”). The charcuterie boards could be a traditional meat and cheese, or it could be something fun like a board with supplies to make Italian sodas, or a board of various desserts. Everyone is invited to be creative with it! As we get closer, we will have a sign-up available from the website, so be on the lookout for an announcement about that!
The second event is our annual 1935 Christmas Dinner Party which will be held the evening of Sunday, December 7th. More details for this event will come as we get closer, but I encourage all young adults to get it on your calendar, as this is a fun gathering every year and schedules in December tend to fill up quickly!
As we enter the fall, please continue to pray for the young adults in our church as we find this rhythm together over the coming months. Pray that as they gather, their bonds of friendship will grow and their faith will deepen as they love and share life with one another.
