It Is Well: peace that outlasts the storm

2026-9-22 | The 2026 retreat team

Our retreat theme, IT IS WELL: peace that outlasts the storm, reminds us that true peace is not dependent on calm circumstances. In the Bible, peace is more than the absence of trouble; it is the deep assurance that comes from knowing God is with us, even in the midst of life’s storms. Our annual women’s retreat is an opportunity to step away from the noise and uncertainty of everyday life, draw closer to God, and discover the peace that only He can provide. This year, we gather to be renewed, encouraged, and reminded that God’s peace can carry us through every storm and outlast it.

It is Well is a weekend retreat created by the women of Riverside and The Grove Covenant Church. It’s designed to help you step away from your daily routine and enter a sacred space where you can connect deeply with God, with nature, and with one another.

Jesus is with us through every storm of life. This weekend we will reflect on how he doesn't always calm the waves, but he does bring us his deep shalom in their midst.

God has already been at work in beautiful ways. He's brought together a team of women eager to serve you, led us to our speaker for the weekend, and revealed a theme that we hope will minister to you right where you are.

The IT IS WELL women’s retreat will take place at Camp Tecumseh, November 6-8, and as always, includes worship, games, fun, laughter, solid teaching, free time, meals, and lodging.

Retreat registration is $145 or $135 if you register before October 11th.

Registration is already live, and if you register before October 11th, you will save $10. (Partial scholarships are also available—please don’t let cost keep you from coming!)

For some of us, the annual women’s retreat is an automatic yes!, but for others there can be a hesitancy. If that’s you, what’s stopping you from saying yes to the retreat?

We acknowledge that there are a variety of reasons you may feel unable to attend an overnight women’s retreat. While we recognize everyone is unique and every decision is personal, we want to provide some common reasons we’ve heard in the past and some possible solutions:

I’ve never been to camp before

Camp Tecumseh is a beautiful place located just 25 minutes from Lafayette in Brookston, Indiana. For over 100 years, they have served groups by facilitating growth and connection while modeling God’s love. This is a place where you can enjoy both modern facilities and breathtaking starry night skies.

Finances

The retreat has a designated scholarship fund that is ready and waiting to be used if the registration fee is an obstacle for you to attend this year. It would be our delight to use those funds to make it possible for you to be with us! Requests for partial scholarships are flexible and confidential. Reach out to Jamie Jones at Riverside or Katy Travis at The Grove if you have questions, or just check “partial scholarship” on the registration form.

Sleeping @ Camp

Each cabin is set up with 15 beds (upper and lower bunks available) and in-cabin bathrooms with individual showers. In order to make their sleeping experience the most comfortable, many women bring along a foam mattress topper, white noise machine, or earplugs. To help ease your mind, our hospitality team also provides baskets full of commonly forgotten items. The experience of talking or playing cards in your pajamas as you prepare for bed can be a special part of the weekend and provides for some really sweet memories!

Alternatively, you are welcome to sleep at home and drive to camp each day. This year we will have limited spaces available in a shuttle to & from both Riverside and The Grove each evening and morning of the retreat. These seats can be reserved on a first-come, first-served basis when you register.

Eating @ Camp

Meals are served buffet style in the Scheumann Dining Room, a short walk from cabins. A salad bar is always available at lunch and dinner, and a fruit and yogurt bar is available at breakfast. Please notify us of food allergies or special dietary concerns (such as diabetic or vegetarian) in advance; these needs can be fully accommodated.

I Won’t Know Anyone

Bring your own buddy! This retreat isn’t just for members of The Grove and Riverside; last year we had women from at least 10 different churches attend. Feel free to invite your sister, friend, mom, or daughter and spend the weekend together. However, you also don’t have to come with a friend - we build in intentional ways to connect with others throughout the retreat, and you won’t find a more welcoming group of women.

Too much Peopling

The idea of constant group interaction might feel draining and isn’t your idea of a restful week. While our agenda provides times of worship, learning, and connection, there is also ample room for downtime. Camp Tecumseh is full of places both inside and outside where you can sneak away for quiet rest and reflection. We also built in a 4-hour block on Saturday afternoon of downtime. Many women use this as a way to take a nap, go on a nature walk, read quietly, or spend some alone time.

Other questions or concerns?

Please reach out to anyone on the retreat team or ask someone who goes regularly.

One of God’s provisions for this year is our speaker. We couldn't be more excited to share her with you as you begin praying about joining us. While Kayla is a mom and writes about the journey of parenthood, she understands that women from all walks of life are attending this retreat. Over the weekend, we’ll discover how to recognize God’s presence in every moment, in times of sorrow and sadness, joy and happiness, and everything in between.

Meet Our Speaker:

Tasha Jun

Tasha is a biracial Korean American melancholy dreamer. She grew up in a multicultural home, and because of that, she’s spent her life navigating cultural collisions and liminal space. She writes about faith, cultural and ethnic identity, and living with a shalomsick ache. Writing has always been the way God has led her through pain and towards the hope of shalom. Tasha lives in Indiana with her husband and three kids.
