Journey Through Lent 2022

Seek, Gaze, Dwell

Lent is a season in the Church Year that begins on Ash Wednesday (March 2, this year), takes us up to Jesus’ crucifixion on Good Friday, and, of course, to his Resurrection on Easter Sunday. It is forty days, not counting Sundays – which are always considered feast days, even during Lent.

It is common to connect Lent with “giving things up” yet we can “take on” things, too—practices of prayer, reading Scripture, serving others, etc.

One way we are observing Lent this year at ECC is by extending an invitation to a season of prayer.

We look forward to seeing what God does in and through us as we lift these things together in prayer.

Some options of ways to engage in this corporate season of prayer:

(You certainly have the freedom to pray for these and/or for other things the Spirit leads you to pray for.)

Commit to pray daily for the three strategic initiatives at ECC:

  • To search for and call a successful Pastor of Young Adults
  • To develop an ECC Care Team
  • To redevelop and reinvigorate a flourishing small groups ministry, now to be known as “Life Groups”

The following Lenten prayer calendar was provided with the Lenten Centerpiece craft, and this year’s Lenten Text prompts are based on these prayer suggestions for each day. (Text “@lentecc” to the number 81010 to receive these text prompts)
