WORSHIP WITH US THIS SUNDAY!! – 10:30 am in-person, on our Worship page, or on YouTube. We hope to see you there!
MOPS and MOMSNext have now joined together under one, all-inclusive, name: The MomCo. The MomCo is a group for moms of kids of all ages. Whether still pregnant with you first or sending your last off to college, MomCo is for you! It offers a morning filled with fun surprises, refreshments, speakers sharing on relevant topics, meaningful small group discussions, creative crafts, and a few hours to relax and enjoy the company of other moms. MomCo is about celebrating motherhood, meeting needs, making connections and equipping women for the joys and challenges of their lives as moms. It is a caring ministry designed to provide support and encouragement while helping moms to develop a sense of commitment to family, other moms, church, and their community. As a ministry of our church to moms within the community, MomCo provides a front door for families to experience Christs love through the body of Christ in a non-threatening, encouraging environment.
The MOPS group at ECC was started in 2007 and the MOMSnext group started in 2016. Together, now MomCo, they meet in the Life Center Auditorium on the second and fourth Tuesday mornings during the school year. Meanwhile, newborn through kindergarten age children meet in the main building for KidsCo where they hear bible stories and complete activities together with caring leaders. The group is led by moms within the group. The MomCo International provides a theme each year as well as leadership development and training, and children’s curriculum. Last school year, we had a cozy group of about 12 moms and hope to grow that number this coming school year.
This year’s theme in MomCo is “Wild Hope” based on Isaiah 43:18-19 with subthemes titled: Be Open to Receive, Build Endurance, and Live Passionately.
Be Open to Receive: Moms are notoriously brilliant at caring for others, but when we get tapped out, we often try to dig our own wells instead of drinking from the stream God has provided. But this is going to be a year where we practice receiving. It means drinking from the stream in the desert, eating the manna provided, accepting help when needed, saying yes to Jesus’ sacrifice for us, and trusting in God’s power. This is the year of letting go of the belief that we must manage every detail and over-analyze every decision. Instead, we will be open to trusting that God will provide at the moment we most need it.
Build Endurance: Endurance helps us discover the secret of contentment, which is the ability to find hope in any situation. It is tempting to outsource the growth process, to take the easiest route, but the advancement never lasts. Stop waiting for enough confidence or motivation to take action, motivation comes from action. We must do the uncomfortable work by showing up and putting in the reps, building the habits and developing discipline. This is how we are reminded that just because something is difficult doesn’t mean we are doing it wrong. Instead, it’s an opportunity to endure, build character, and rediscover hope.
Live Passionately: Choosing passion means living fully committed. We are all asked to do more than we can do. Every hero and heroine of the Bible does more than they thought was possible – Peter walked on water, Sarah had a baby even though it was biologically impossible, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego survived a fiery furnace, and Moses stood in the middle of a sea trusting God to part the water. The story of God is filled with passionate and flawed people who God used to do impossible things. What if this is the year we pursue risky obedience and passionately go all-in with God?
If you are thinking, “where do I fit into this group?”, there are a few options:
Are you ready for the wild and passionate life God has for you? Are you excited to discover new things about yourself? To loosen your grip on control so you can be open to receive? It’s time to face your limits in the wilds and come out on the other side with stories to tell.
