What if there’s more to the Ten Commandments than that? What if God gave his people these ways to live, so that humankind could flourish in God’s Kingdom?

This fall, our middle and high school students at The Grove will be exploring these questions together. Each Wednesday night, students in grades 6–12 will gather at the church for snacks, games, Bible study, and small group discussion. This semester, our Bible study will take us through a 12-part video series from The Bible Project exploring the Ten Commandments.

The Ten Commandments are among the most well-known teachings in the Bible, but this series invites us to look at them in a different way. Rather than simply seeing them as a list of rules, we’ll explore the wisdom beneath each commandment and consider how God’s instructions can lead us toward a life where everyone flourishes in God’s kingdom.

What does it mean to have no other gods? Why does God care about the way we use his name? What does Sabbath teach us about the life God intends for us? What happens when we move beyond simply not stealing, lying, or coveting and begin to ask what kind of people God is shaping us to become?

These are the kinds of questions we’ll engage with in our small group discussion times.

Our hope is that youth group will be a place where students can ask honest questions, wrestle with Scripture, learn from one another, and discover that following God is about more than checking off a list of rules. It’s about growing in wisdom and learning a way of life that leads to genuine flourishing.

We’re excited about what God might do in and through our students this fall. And we invite our whole church to pray for our youth and our leaders. Pray with us that together we would grow in wisdom, deepen our love for God, and discover more fully the life God invites us to live.
