On Sunday, we will begin a summer series on the book of Psalms. Don’t worry. We will not preach through every psalm! Rather, we will handpick a few that demonstrate the rich spirituality that can be found in what some call, The Prayer Book of the Bible.

The Psalms were collected from several authors—only about half are attributed to King David—and were used for worship and prayer. They fueled congregational worship, as well as private prayers.

As scholar WD Tucker, Jr. put it, for centuries, “Readers have been enamored by their poetic language, rich imagery and stark honesty.”
