The Stone Was Rolled Away

2025-4-8 | Meghan McClellan

“The ground began to shake. The stone was rolled away.

His perfect love could not be overcome.

Now death where is your sting?

Our resurrected King has rendered you defeated.

Forever He is risen! He is alive!”

Forever (We Sing Hallelujah) by Kari Jobe

Early on that first Easter morning, the earth shook, and an angel rolled away the massive stone that sealed Jesus’ tomb. What had once been a symbol of finality—of death’s grip—was now the evidence of victory. The stone wasn’t rolled away so Jesus could leave. He could have walked through the stone without the it being moved. It was rolled away for us. We needed to see with our own eyes that He had risen!

Easter is a celebration of this truth: death is defeated, and Jesus is alive. His resurrection isn’t just a historical event; it’s the hope we cling to, the promise that changes everything. The same power that rolled the stone away is still at work today, bringing life, freedom, and new beginnings.

We invite you to join us this Easter as we celebrate the risen King. Come and experience the joy of resurrection hope, the power of an empty tomb, and the love of a Savior who conquered death so that we might live. The stone has been rolled away—come, see, and celebrate with us!

We have many opportunities to prepare our hearts as we head towards Easter morning. I hope you’ll consider joining us for one or all of these events!
