WORSHIP WITH US THIS SUNDAY!! – 10:30 am in-person, on our Worship page, or on YouTube. We hope to see you there!
There are a variety of reasons you may feel unable to attend an overnight women’s retreat. While we recognize everyone is unique and every decision is personal, we want to provide some common reasons we’ve heard in the past and some possible solutions.
What’s stopping you from saying yes to the retreat?
Camp Tecumseh is a beautiful place located just 25 minutes from Lafayette in Brookston, Indiana. For over 100 years they have served groups by facilitating growth and connection while modeling God’s love. This is a place where you can enjoy both modern facilities and breathtaking starry night skies.
The retreat has a designated scholarship fund that is ready and waiting to be used if the registration fee is an obstacle for you to attend this year. It would be our delight to use those funds to make it possible for you to be with us! Requests for partial scholarships are flexible and confidential. Reach out to Jamie Jones at Riverside or Katy Travis at The Grove if you have questions, or just check “partial scholarship” on the registration form.
Each cabin is set up with 15 beds (upper and lower bunks available) and in-cabin bathrooms with individual showers. In order to make their sleeping experience the most comfortable, many women bring along a foam mattress topper, white noise machine, or ear plugs. To help ease your mind, our hospitality team also provides baskets full of commonly forgotten items. The experience of talking or playing cards in your pajamas as you prepare for bed can be a special part of the weekend and provides for some really sweet memories!
Alternatively, you are welcome to sleep at home and drive to camp each day. This year we will have limited spaces available in a shuttle to & from both Riverside and The Grove each evening and morning of the retreat. These seats can be reserved on a first come, first served basis when you register.
Meals are served buffet style in the Scheumann Dining Room, a short walk from cabins. A salad bar is always available at lunch and dinner, and a fruit and yogurt bar is available at breakfast. Please notify us of food allergies or special dietary concerns (such as diabetic or vegetarian) in advance; these needs can be fully accommodated.
Bring your own buddy! This retreat isn’t just for members of The Grove and Riverside; last year we had women from at least 10 different churches attend. Feel free to invite your sister, friend, mom, or daughter and spend the weekend together. However, you also don’t have to come with a friend - we build in intentional ways to connect with others throughout the retreat, and you won’t find a more welcoming group of women.
The idea of constant group interaction might feel draining and isn’t your idea of a restful week. While our agenda provides times of worship, learning and connection, there is also ample room for downtime. Camp Tecumseh is full of places both inside and outside where you can sneak away for quiet rest and reflection. We also built in a 4 hour block on Saturday afternoon of downtime. Many women use this as a way to take a nap, go on a nature walk, read quietly or spend some alone time.
Boiler Up! Camp T is just shy of 30 minutes from Ross-Ade Stadium. Ladies sometimes have to miss portions of the retreat to attend sporting events for their kids or to get use of the season tickets they have to Purdue Football, and that is okay.
